Preparation method of shaped charcoal

There are two methods to make shaped charcoal. The first method is called shaping before carbonization. It needs to crush the residues of agricultural waste and wood processing residues into sawdust, extrude with a press machine under high-pressure, and then carbonize into shaped biomass charcoal. However, this method has process defects like high equipment investment cost, serious equipment wear, and high energy consumption. Charcoal briquettes made of this method usually have longer carbonization time due to the materials’ large size. The advantage is that this method needs no binder, so the charcoal would have lower ash content.
Another method is called carbonization before shaping. It is to pyrolyze the biomass materials into charcoal, crush the charcoal and mix it with a certain proportion of binder, and then pressed by charcoal shaping equipment. This method has the advantages of lower equipment investment costs, small equipment wear, and lower energy consumption.
Some manufacturers, regardless of raw materials size, always carbonize materials first and then crush the charcoal, which usually results in unstable carbon quality. But we recommend you consider the size of the raw materials to choose which process goes the first. Thus you can make good quality charcoal briquettes.
Our company is professional in both two kinds of processes and machines. Whether you need a charcoal press machine (carbonization before shaping) or biomass press machine (shaping before carbonization), we all have the right model and machine to satisfy your requirement and desired capacity.
