“Our village now has four briquetting machines that produce 20 tons of biomass briquetting every day, which not only meets the heating needs of the whole village, but can also be sold to surrounding villages, earning more than 300,000 yuan a year.
"Recently, villager Wang Hongbo said happily in Yongsheng Village, Yongle Street, Sujiatun District, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province.Yongsheng Village is an administrative village in Sujiatun District, Shenyang City. There are more than 1,500 people in the village. The villagers mainly make a living from planting, breeding and migrant work, and the village's collective economic income is small.
In the past, every winter, villagers mainly relied on burning coal for heating, which not only polluted the environment but also posed safety risks.
“After the ban on straw burning, we have been looking for alternative energy sources.
Zhang Liguo, the first secretary of Yongsheng Village, told reporters that after many inspections and surveys, they found that biomass briquetting was the best choice.
Biomass briquettes are processed from agricultural and forestry waste such as straw, branches, and weeds. They have the characteristics of high calorific value, sufficient combustion, cleanness and environmental protection.
Under the national "double carbon" goal, biomass briquettes are receiving more and more attention as a clean energy source.
“The biomass briquetting project in our village was put into operation in October 2022 and has produced nearly 20,000 tons of biomass briquetting.
It is understood that the total investment in the biomass briquetting project in Yongsheng Village is about 1.2 million yuan, including 700,000 yuan in equipment investment, 400,000 yuan in infrastructure investment, and 100,000 yuan in working capital.
The raw materials required for the project mainly come from corn straw, rice straw and other crop residues in the village and surrounding villages. It can consume about 12,000 tons of agricultural and forestry waste every year.
“This project not only solves the heating problem in the village, but also increases the villagers’ income.
"Zhang Liguo said that after the project was put into operation, the village set up a professional team to collect and transport raw materials. The price of raw materials per ton ranged from 200 yuan to 280 yuan. By providing raw materials, the average income of each household of villagers increased by about 6,000 yuan.
The project also provides employment opportunities for villagers.
Currently, the project has a total of 11 employees, including 7 permanent employees and 4 seasonal temporary workers.
The monthly salary of permanent employees ranges from 2,000 yuan to 3,000 yuan, while the salary of temporary workers is settled based on workload.
In the process of promoting rural revitalization, how to turn agricultural and forestry waste into treasure and realize resource utilization? The biomass briquetting project in Yongsheng Village gives an answer: by introducing advanced technology and equipment to process agricultural and forestry waste into biomass briquetting, it not only reduces environmental pollution, but also increases farmers’ income, achieving economic benefits and A win-win for ecological benefits.
“In the next step, we will further improve the project’s supporting facilities, improve production efficiency and product quality, and strive to allow more villages to use clean energy.
"Zhang Liguo said that they plan to increase the annual output of biomass briquettes to more than 100,000 tons in the next three years, and at the same time actively expand market channels to sell products to surrounding areas and even the country.
